Offering a friendly and unintimidating environment, people are encouraged to visit One You to ask questions and take advantage of the free health services on offer. Visitors can either drop in unannounced or arrange a scheduled appointment.

The shop remains a firm favourite in the revitalised Park Mall, and was set up as a joint health initiative with Ashford Borough council, Kent County Council Public Health and Kent Community Health Foundation Trust (KCHFT).

Cllr Brad Bradford, Ashford Borough Council’s portfolio holder for wellbeing, said: “The breastfeeding space is a wonderful addition to the already popular One You shop. It works for everyone – it offers a space for people who may feel uncomfortable breastfeeding in another environment and it means that those mums whose babies need a feed can continue their shopping afterwards, which in turn benefits the town centre.

“The impact of the One You shop has been terrific. This is another really innovative approach that this council has adopted. As the lead authority in the borough, we have a duty to be concerned about our residents’ wellbeing and work closely with our colleagues in health organisations.

"One You promises to be the future of healthcare provision. When it was set up it is not stretching the point to say the eyes of the NHS were firmly focused on the shop. They are pleased, as are we, that it is having such a positive effect."

Kent County Council Director of Public Health, Andrew Scott-Clark said: "We are pleased the One You shop is being used by residents for a range of health support services and urge anyone who hasn't yet visited it to pop in and have a chat, it could be their healthiest ever shopping trip!"
