Family fun day at Conningbrook Lakes
Visitors enjoying canoeing on the lake
Hundreds of people soaked up the sunshine and visited Conningbrook Lakes Country Park for a day of family fun earlier this month.
The event celebrated 20 years of the Julie Rose Stadium, and saw more than 1,000 people attend to enjoy the range of activities on offer.
Dozens of people pushed the boat out and tried canoeing, sailing and paddle boarding on the lake, while youngsters had their face painted, enjoyed zorbing and athletics, and took part in cycling activities organised by Cycle Circle.
The Ashford Farmers’ Market stalls were busy throughout the day and the Ashford Concert Band entertained the crowds, with a large number of people stopping to enjoy the music while the sporting activities took place.
Many joined in with the pond dipping and sweep-netting activities organised by Kent Wildlife Trust, and received free health checks and membership offers with Ashford Leisure Trust.
More Chilmington Green works commence

Work has begun on infrastructure works for the Chilmington Green project.
Hodsons has appointed contractor Gallagher and works involve constructing a new roundabout on the A28 for the main access to the new housing development.
They recently completed work to the south side of the roundabout and have now switched the traffic onto this new section. This enables them to commence the construction to the opposite north side.
In order for them to now complete the surfacing to the roundabout and the associated finishing works it will be necessary for them to undertake some night works.
