Congratulations are in order because Ashford’s historic Victoria Park has been awarded a £167,000 development grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and Big Lottery Fund. In addition, well done to Tenterden’s The Old Dairy Brewery as they've just received a Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor for their Brewery Tours. Well done!
We’ve got some great feel-good community stories too; read about the Kent Challenger Games where youngsters got to enjoy a day of sports, and find out about Kestrel Park, a brand new Iron Age-themed play area which opened a few weeks ago. What’s more, find out details about a new play area coming to Hamstreet.
The borough has a rich heritage but is also embracing growth with its ambitious plans for the future. Now’s your chance to view the current consultations and voice your opinion on various upcoming projects including the Draft Local Plan, Chilmington Green and the Heritage Strategy.
Elsewhere in this month’s issue, read about how works have begun on Elwick Place and watch a time-lapse video of the work so far. Speaking of videos, check out our new video blog feature called Ashford Voice Meets.
There’s also plenty of great summer events listed in our What’s On section, including a special feature on fun family events happening at Singleton Environment Centre. Don’t forget to share any articles you like on Facebook and Twitter, and let Voice know of any great local events happening near you.
